Find a Doctor Easily When Travelling This Summer

Australian Medical Association (AMA) Queensland has launched an iPhone App no traveller will want to be without.

The free health tool called ‘Find a Doctor’ will make it easier for travellers to locate a AMA GP at the push of a button.

AMA Queensland President Dr Gino Pecoraro said the iPhone App uses GPS technology to allow travellers to pin point their closest GP.

“No matter whether you’re in backpacking in Broome, at the beach in Byron Bay or caravanning across the Nullarbor this free App will quickly calculate your closest GP anytime, anywhere,” Dr Pecoraro.

“It’s as simple as clicking on the ‘Find a Doctor’ icon to locate the doctor nearest to you, selecting the phone number and making an appointment.

“The iPhone App can also be used as a medical directory allowing travellers to type in any suburb, town or city across Australia to find a local AMA GPs contact details at their holiday destination.”

Dr Pecoraro said AMA Queensland expected the iPhone App to be particularly popular with Australians holidaying this Summer.

“Australians spent 259 million nights1 away from home and took almost 151 million day trips2 in the last financial year,” he said.

“The ‘Find a Doctor’ will ensure travellers are prepared for every medical surprise by making it easy to find their closest GP.”

The ‘Find a Doctor’ application also includes a poisons hotline and useful articles from the Association’s ‘All About You’ magazine providing practical advice on leading a healthy lifestyle.
